The story of Rainforest Flavor Cacao started back in 2016.
It was while I was exploring Ecuador’s Tropical Rain Forest, that I happened to stay in a hotel by the shore of the river.
Taking in the view from my hotel room, I noticed some trees with long, oval orange pods draped from the branches.
As it was time to continue the tour, I had no time to ask about what I had seen. I was determined to find out more about this interesting plant.
Upon arriving back at my room after a long, sweaty day of exploration, I was struck by a profound and inviting scent wafting in with the breeze.
I asked the receptionist what it could be. She explained that what I had seen that morning were some rare Arriba cacao trees from a plantation owned by the local Shuar people, an indigenous tribe. Those pods contained beans that would become chocolate.
The breeze brought with it the intoxicating scent of those cacao beans drying in the sun.
I couldn’t resist.
The next morning I requested a tour of the plantation. While the tribe showed me around their plantation, an unquenchable passion arose in me.
That was the day “My Fine Aroma Journey” began and I made it my mission to deliver this most exquisite flavors in the world to foodie lovers.
