About us - My fine aroma Journey

The story of Rainforest Flavor Cacao started back in 2016.

It was while I was exploring Ecuador’s Tropical Rain Forest, that I happened to stay in a hotel by the shore of the river.

Taking in the view from my hotel room, I noticed some trees with long, oval orange pods draped from the branches.

As it was time to continue the tour, I had no time to ask about what I had seen. I was determined to find out more about this interesting plant.

Upon arriving back at my room after a long, sweaty day of exploration, I was struck by a profound and inviting scent wafting in with the breeze.

I asked the receptionist what it could be. She explained that what I had seen that morning were some rare Arriba cacao trees from a plantation owned by the local Shuar people, an indigenous tribe. Those pods contained beans that would become chocolate.

The breeze brought with it the intoxicating scent of those cacao beans drying in the sun.

I couldn’t resist.

The next morning I requested a tour of the plantation. While the tribe showed me around their plantation, an unquenchable passion arose in me.

That was the day “My Fine Aroma Journey” began and I made it my mission to deliver this most exquisite flavors in the world to foodie lovers.

Our Cacao Promise:

We only sell premium and Organic products. We firmly believe in the practice of Fair Trade. With this in mind, we vet and inspect all of our farms ourselves. Each product is tested, tasted and prepared ourselves before anything is shipped to make sure they meet our high standards.

“Thanks to its distinctive aroma and predominant floral flavors,   Ecuador Rio Arriba variety is used by the finest chocolatiers in the world, Today, only 5% of the world’s cacao beans are considered as “fine grade”, as the majority is bulk cacao used for manufacturing of mass-market chocolate”

  • 100% USDA Organic

Every step from the farm to the processing is 100% USDA Organic Certified. Organic doesn't just mean it’s a healthy product. Organic cacao is much more full flavored because the cacao pods are smaller, which results in a more concentrated bean.

  • Hand Picked Beans

To make sure only the highest quality Arriba beans make it to the drying process, we insist on hand picking. This results in unparalleled flavor and aroma. Commercial producers can’t take the time to do this, so all the beans are processed, no matter the quality.

  • Premium Variety

Only 5% of the world’s cacao is Fine Aroma Cacao. From that 5%, 70% is produced in Ecuador. Fine aroma cacao is used in the finest chocolates made in the world. Commercial chocolates are 98% generic cacao, and 2% or, even less, fine aroma cacao.

  • Fine Aroma

Intense body with plenty of sweet, caramelly notes and subtle fruity hints. Arriba is great for bars and tablets, yet can also be used in a wide variety of applications. An extremely sought-after type of cacao, yielding an exceptionally intense cacao taste with complex aromas.
